I take my responsibility to welcome and include very seriously. This page covers the variety of policies I utilize to ensure that this website maintains accessibility and inclusivity. If I’m missing anything, or you think I can do or be better, please contact me via the form on the →ABOUT page. I will email you back within 3 business days, with changes made. Sending you gratitude for your attention and effort.
In the development of this site, I used the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and continue to ensure all content that I create and post is 1. Perceivable, 2. Operable, 3. Understandable` and 4. Robust. Examples of utilization are included below.
“Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.” Other words for perceive include recognize and discern. On this site, I offer text alternatives through captions, alternative text for photos, correct reading sequences, contrast colored text, controls for all audio instruments, and correct text spacing. I do what I’m knowledgeable of, and am more than willing to try new things for greater perception. Check out more on the w3.org website!
“User interface components and navigation must be operable.” Other ideas to consider operability include reliability, ease of use, and workable. To ensure operability, I make all functionality available from a keyboard, users are given enough time to read and use content, and when there are automated features, moving blinking and scrolling features can be stopped, paused or hidden. Again, I do what I’m knowledgable of, and remain rooted in being able to shift to ensure greater operability for site users. Again, to see the standards I used, check out more on the w3.org website!
“Information and the user interface must be understandable.” Another word for understandable is comprehensible. The aligned idea is easy to understand. To make my website understandable, I do my best to ensure all text is readable, and predictable, and labels and instructions are available for every website form, . My website design is a bit unique in the fact that my lower page navigations are unique by the business area, but the top of page navigation is consistent. I’ve also put a complete site map with all pages of the full R E I R B R E E D business suite in my →ABOUT page. I haven’t quite figured out how to make submissions reversible, but if you message me on the →ABOUT page, I’m happy to delete whatever was sent for your privacy, within logic and reason. “Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted by by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.” Robust is associated with being solidly built, strong, and vigorous. I’ve done my best to ensure robustness through ensuring that each page is fully accessible for support devices, and conforms and maintains compatibility with most browsers, and page identifications are unique and tags are available and usable. Again, I’m happy to shift and change if you see areas of improvement. To learn more check out the w3.org site!
